Special Baseball Movie Night at ITC Friday, April 14th at 6:30pm Upstairs Lobby “The Battered Bastards of Baseball” Featuring our own Rob Nelson … Star on the courts, diamond & silver screen! All baseball enthusiasts come and bring a friend and watch a great documentary about the Portland Mavericks, a defunct minor league baseball team that played five seasons in the Class A-Short Season NW League from 1973-1977.The Portland Mavericks, owned by actor Bing Russell, was an independent team, without the affiliation of a parent team in the major leagues. The film was directed by Chapman and Maclain Way, grandsons of Bing Russell, and features Russell’s son, actor Kurt Russell, who played for the Mavericks and worked as a vice president. It also includes batboy Todd Field, Frank “The Flake” Peters, Joe Garza, Jim Bouton, and Joe Garagiola. NEW Cancellation Policy for Summer Tennis & Swim Lessons

Please familiarize yourself with the Club’s new cancellation policy regarding summer tennis & swim lessons. This policy change is in effect for Summer 2017.   Junior Summer Tennis & Swim Lesson Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made 15 days or more in advance of the lesson start date for a FULL refund. Cancellations made between 8 & 14 days in advance of the lesson start date will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made less than 8 days of the lesson start date will not be refunded.

Survey Says … As a follow-up to our Club survey, the Board invites you to join us for a listening session. We will share our view of the survey results and be in conversation regarding other things you would like us to know. The purpose is to learn more about your experience and your interests. We will use this information to help set our goals and priorities going forward. Club Member, Dick Withycombe will help facilitate the sessions, along with representatives from the Board. Please join us to discuss the results and any other interest you may want to share. Final Day: There is just no substitute for this great event! By Amy Alpern Growing up we all hated substitutes. Substitute teachers were boring at best and mean at worst. Sugar substitutes include Aspartame, Sweet and Low, and Cyclamate – need I say more? But here at Irvington Club, come Tournament Time, we love our substitutes. And what’s so beautiful about substitutes here is that they can be us, win for us, and then be forced to take a seat and watch the real us play in the finals. How awesome is that. The action today started in the lobby.  “If Diedre can be me at 11 I can be Lisa at 3 as long as Cathy can fill back in for Jen who is subbing for her now but who will be subbing in for Ann at the 8 pm match.” Walter’s eyes roll but alas he gets it and says “A sub can’t fill in if they played in that bracket and beat the team that lost to the team that won the Olympics.” Ok good, then we’re good right?
